Report on Shiksha Saptah – July’2024

The Lawrence Public School,Janak Puri has started the celebration of Shiksha Saptah as initiated by CBSE on a positive note.
The students participated wholeheartedly in the activities as listed for Day 1 to Day 7 (From 22nd July’24 to 27th July’24). The school celebrated Foundational Literacy and Numeracy day which included activities and interactive sessions on Numeracy Skills, mathematical activities, Story telling sessions and communication skills sessions to enhance vocabulary among students. These include posters with slogans, charts, story cards, toys, puppets, puzzle games, Reading activity to name a few.
On Day 3 under the activities of Shiksha Saptah, school celebrated Sports Day with a lot of enthusiasm. The students were engaged in different indigenous games to inculcate a sense of team spirit and discipline among them. The Physical Education teachers also explained about the importance of Sports and fitness. First aid workshop was also conducted to demonstrate basic first aid techniques such as CPR and wound care. An activity and workshop of role play was also conducted to develop communication skills, Sales techniques and Marketing Strategies among students.
Various Craft activities were also conducted like making of vases, pen stands, bags to develop creativity among students. Water testing and Soil fertility activities were also conducted to develop skills of scientific observation, data collection and analysis.
The Eco Club committee of the school conducted Plantation drive by planting saplings of different kinds in and around the school premises. A workshop on Environmental awareness was also conducted by the Eco club teachers who gave a lecture on Eco friendly methods to conserve our environment. Posters on environmental issues were prepared by the students.

Last but not the least, the Logo of Vidyanjali was made in the school and the students, teachers and parents were encouraged to become the volunteers on Vidyanjali portal.


Swachhata Pakhwada’2023

Swachhata Pakhwada has been celebrated in The Lawrence Public School from 1st to 15th September’23. It was celebrated to highlight the significance of cleanliness, sanitation and washing of hands.

In the morning assembly a few students took oath to keep their home as well as school clean and environmentally friendly. Competitions like poem, painting, Quiz etc. was also organised for the students.

The students were made aware about the proper disposal of their unwanted materials. They were explained the importance of taking bath daily, drinking clean water, cutting of nails and wearing of washed clothes.

Such programmes act a recall of all the hygiene and sanitation to exist in our day to day life.


Van Mahotsav Week (1st August’22 to 15th August’22)

The students, the teachers and the Administration Staff of the Lawrence Public School whole heartedly participated in the celebration of Van Mahotsav from 1st August’2022 to 15th August’2022. The students of classes I to XII displayed a variety of programmes in the morning assembly which enable and put an example for all the other students to plant small saplings or plants at their home or in their neighbourhood.

Ms. Suvidha explained the value of Zero Plastic through various day to day examples.

A large variety of activities like Poem Recitation , Short Plays, Fancy Dress Attires, Jungle Scene, Poems, Songs and so on were performed to make the audience understand the importance of trees in our life.

 Students under the guidance of their teacher, displayed Van Mahotsav Exhibition in which handmade jute bags, decorative items and pen stands were exhibited. All the walls and the boards held the slogans on Impact of Noise Pollution and How to Save the Earth .The Collage Work and Cards were the main attractions of the show. The students also displayed various materials which they had made Out of Waste .

Students of Class XI demonstrated Medicinal Plants and their benefits. They explained the importance of Balanced Diet by consuming sprouts and salads in daily diet. Eco Club Members also enabled Plantation Drive on 10th August’2022.

Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat – Bhasha Sangam

The students of classes I to VIII of The Lawrence Public School, Janakpuri, participated in Bhasha Sangam, an activity of CBSE. Through this activity, the students learnt a lot about various languages of India. It helped in promoting and learning of Indian languages across the country. Students of various classes conversed with each other in Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Marathi and so on. Students, teachers and parents got familiarized with many Indian languages (almost 22) and enhanced their language learning.

International Yoga Day 2022

The students of Lawrence Public School,Janakpuri celebrated the International Yoga day on 21st June,22 with a lot of enthusiasm.

Students under the guidance of their physical education instructor performed a lot of asanas like Surya Namaskar, Balasana, Tadasana, Parvatasana.

Mock Drill – 2022

On 20th April 2022, all the students and the staff of The Lawrence Public School witness the Mock Drill early in the morning. At 9:30 a.m. a long bell was there and all the students as well as the staff rushed out of their classes towards the playground. The students were made to practice to vacant the school as early as possible if there is any kind of disaster in future.


“Phasing Out Single Use Plastic” on Earth Day

On 22nd April 2022, the students and the teachers of The Lawrence Public School took an oath in the morning assembly to make their country pollution free and non usage of plastic in their day to day life. After the oath there was a small skit and a dance which explained the students the importance of keeping their planet clean.

Eco – Club Activities

In the month of May, 2022, students framed a number of posters, slogans and made eco club caps in order to show the hazards of noise pollution.

All the above efforts done by the students and the teachers of The Lawrence Public School under the eco club will surely benefit the school and its neighboring areas by increasing green cover in school area and outside, declining carbon footprints towards sustainable environment and preventing plastic pollution and its hazards in form of making eco brick will help everyone in the school and the society.

Rain Water Harvesting Activity

Rain Water Harvesting activity cum workshop was conducted in February, 2022 for the students of classes III to XII. The students of various classes gave speech, made posters, displayed slogans. Various online and offline videos were posted. We stand committed towards the holistic development of our students.

Azadi Ka Mahotsav – Republic Day

This year being the 75th year of Independence, the country celebrated the Republic Day under the broader ambit of “Azadi ka Mahotsav”. The Lawrence Public School successfully implemented all the guidelines of SOP as issued by Ministry of Defence for Republic Day Celebrations. The events under SOP which we complied with were as follow:

EK BHARAT SHRESTHA BHARAT

The idea of a sustained and structured cultural connect between people of different regions of India was mooted by our hon'ble Prime Minister of India during the Rashtriya Ekta Divas. Every state and union territory in the country has been paired with another state and union territory for a year during which a structural engagement with one another in the spheres of language, literature, cuisine, festivals, cultural events and tourism sector will be carried.
Delhi has thereby being paired with Sikkim. A number of activities have been conducted by the students of the Lawrence Public School for achieving this purpose.
In the month of October, Activity 12, i.e, an Essay Writing Competition among the students of classes 3 to 12 was held in which the location, flora fauna, vegetation, language and culture of Sikkim were included. The students of classes 6 to 8 also took a pledge (Activity 7) on Swachhata, single use plastic, water saving and national unity in the language of Sikkim. The students of classes 1 to 12 participated in Activity 13, i.e, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Utsav and they also prepared a very colourful and attractive scrapbook of both the states to explain their rich culture and heritage (Activity 14). Another activity (15) was held in this month among the students of classes 9 to 12 where they wrote a school report of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
In the month of November, Activity 12 was conducted among students of classes 3 to 8 in which (Literary Fest) quiz competition, poetry recitation, extempore, speech, debate translation of popular regional script of Sikkim was conducted .The students of classes 3 to 5 were also exposed to the alphabets, songs, proverbs, unique words and 100 sentences in the language of Sikkim.
In the month of December, Activity 8 was conducted by the students of classes 3 to 8 in which there were many talks by the students and teachers on Sikkim related to their  latest news ,history, culture, National icons and the list is endless.

Tree Plantation Drive" on *VAN MAHOTSAV

It gives us immense pleasure to share the enlivening efforts of our students duly polished with the contribution of parents and teachers.

It has always been the endeavour of LPS to teach our students about the value of trees and plants in our lives.

ECO-CLUB organized a "Tree Plantation Drive" on VAN MAHOTSAV from 1st July’2021 onwards for Classes 9 to 12.

Van Mahotsav.....the festival of trees and the festival of life which is celebrated all over India has been truly manifested and showcased by our students through speeches, dance, poems, slogans and posters in a very creative way.

We are glad to share it today on this virtual platform to mark the importance of Van Mahotsav festival.

International Yoga Day 2021

The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated annually on 21st June since 2015 by the students of The Lawrence Public School. Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice which originated in India. Every year, the Lawrencians get indulged into this by performing various asanas.Through the medium of online classes,Mrs.Anju,P.E.Tand students of various classes performed a number of asanas to strengthen their body physically as well as mentally.This spirit is activated every week among students through their Sports Period.

 Students of our school actively participated in World Environment Day activities from their homes amid this ongoing World Pandemic.

Various activities were designed for students to perform from their homes keeping them aware of the environmental issues.

They made :-

eco friendly bird feeder, wrote slogans and made posters on eco - restoration

speech for better and cleaner world habitat.

A poem to love our Mother Earth and planted saplings at their homes.

The celebration came to an end with everyone pledging to take an initiative of saving the environment and doing their bit for a cleaner and greener Mother Earth.

TREE PLANTATION DRIVE

The noble mission of making our city clean and green, students of The Lawrence Public school participated in ....Delhi government tree plantation drive.
The motive behind this initiative was an effort to reduce air pollution in Delhi, which has reached alarming levels.
The drive was organised under able guidance of Mrs. Rekha Kumari, principal of...The Lawrence Public School , Janakpuri, New Delhi.
A group of 30 enthusiastic Lawrenceans planted saplings of herbal plants in the gardens, residential society and parks.
The drive had been a huge success empowering students with substantial knowledge of environment and plants and simultaneously enhancing their social skills.
Myself : Mamta Vohra (PGT Biology) being a keen observer and ethnic lover towards nature feels obliged to connect students with plants and environment.

SIKKIM LPS NEWS

Art Integrated Learning is a frame work of experiential learning which provides an equitable learning enviornment for all learners through their own access points. Students engage in art activities and consistent personal meaning through their learing in art integrated enviornment . The students of classes IX & X participated in these projects with great enthusiasm. In the project students explains the floura and fauna , resources of water , hydropower plant and organic farming of Sikkim in form of LPS News . It helped children with a development of motor skills , language skills, scientific skills, decision making and innovative techniques.

The Lawrence Public School, Janakpuri has observed Swachta Pakhwada for the year 2019 from 1st September to 11th September’2019, wherein all students and teachers participated with full enthusiasm. The students expressed their views on the need for ‘Swachhata’ in the morning assembly. A few students took shapath to keep their school, home and surroundings clean. Our Principal, Mrs. Rekha Kumari, addressed the students with a motivating speech on this topic.
The teachers inspected sanitary facilities in each and every corner of the school. Posters and slogans on anti-environmental practices like deforestation, water wastage and non-usage of plastic were made and displayed. Awareness was created among students on the need for proper hand wash and drinking clean water.
The focus of the school for the month of September was entirely to promote behavioural change to keep the surrounding clean.

The Lawrence Public School, Janakpuri celebrated the 150th the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji. The morning assembly was focused on Bapu’s thoughts in words and actions. A quiz on the life of Gandhiji was conducted in classrooms. The bulletin boards displayed the posters and slogans made by the students on the teachings of Gandhiji. The message of truth, non-violence and tolerance was imparted among the students.

Swachta and Water Conservation Week

Since entire country is celebrating Swachta and Water Conservation Week to save our green earth, the students of classes X and XII planted many trees and conserved water by the means of umbrellas, under the guidance of Ms. Rekha Kumari, Principal, Mrs. Vandana Kumari, Vice Principal, Mrs. Mamta Vohra, Biology Teacher and other Science teachers. The students witnessed the Oath Ceremony and are made to use steel bottles and tiffins; and jute bags instead of plastics in their daily usage.

Painting Competition

The Lawrence Public School organized a Painting Competition on 8th August,2016 to commemorate the 110th Birth Anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The students of Classes VI to XII displayed their artistic creativity to pay tribute to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives during the freedom struggle. The students carved beautiful illustrations on the given topic, “India Struggle for Freedom”. The best artists were awarded with certificates.

Rally for the prevention of dengue

On 17th August’2016, the students of Class X of The Lawrence Public School, Janakpuri, went for a rally for the prevention, of dengue and to create awareness among citizens. It was organized by the MCD of the West Zone, Ward 118 under the leadership of the area Councellor, Mrs. Rajni Mamtani. There were about 100 students who had covered nearby residential blocks of Janakpuri along with school teachers and staff members.

ECO-CLUB ACTIVITIES

As being the member of Eco Club, The Lawrence Public School, Janakpuri, organized various competitions for the classes IV to VIII to impart a message among them that an environment encompasses the interaction of all living species. The students prepared ‘Greeting Cards’, ‘Diyas’, ‘Gift Wrappers’, ‘Slogans’ and ‘Paper Bags’. They used eco-friendly material for the same. The winners were given certificates and plants. The children were motivated to keep their surroundings clean, non-usage of plastic bags and planting of plants in their neighbourhood.

The various saplings of lemon, coriander etc. were planted as a part of a true plantation drive. The students pledge to plant more and more trees in their neighbourhood areas. The Principal, Mrs. Rekha Kumari, presided over all the activities and instructed the students to protect their ailing planet.

The Lawrence Public School celebrated “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” from 13th October’2014 to 18th October’2014. The students and the teachers were initiated towards a cleaner and greener environment. They commenced various activities like Speech, Poems, Skit on facts of cleanliness and hygiene, Slogans & Posters and Monoact. The entire theme was based upon the importance of cleanliness and its effect on the environment.
